Our Story

Luke and Grace met in high school during the “behind the wheel” portion of driver’s ed and drove the car together over three days in January 2010. They had gym class together that semester too but their paths didn’t intersect until fifteen years later at their high school reunion.

In October of 2023, Grace planned the ten year reunion and Luke decided to attend. The next day, Luke reached out to thank Grace for planning the reunion and they made plans to get coffee together.

After several meet ups, they went to The Schiele Museum in December 2023. They saw a Planetarium show, walked through the nature trail, and went through the museum’s exhibits. Following dinner, Luke told Grace he liked her and Grace said she felt the same but they weren’t ready to make anything “official”. After a couple more dates, Luke asked Grace to be his girlfriend and she happily said yes.

Fast forward a year to December 2024 — after moving in together, adopting the best kitten (Sandy!), and getting to know each other even more, Luke proposed to Grace at the Pavillon in Downtown Gastonia before a heavy metal show at The Rooster (shout out Fault Union!). Grace said “Wait, what?” out of surprise and then asked Luke to put the ring on her finger. After Luke reminded her that she needed to say yes and Grace obliged. Now they are engaged!
